A New Chapter in China-ASEAN New Energy Vehicle Cooperation: Cultivating International Talent and Market Opportunities

1. Display and Exchange of Intelligent Driving Technologies

On June 21st, a unique new energy vehicle technology exchange event

was held at Liuzhou City Vocational College in Liuzhou, Guangxi, China. The event focused on the China-ASEAN new energy vehicle industry-education integration community, specifically showcasing and exchanging SAIC-GM-Wuling Baojun’s intelligent driving technology. The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including industry experts, vocational college teachers and students, and new energy vehicle enthusiasts.

The event featured SAIC-GM-Wuling Baojun’s intelligent driving vehicles. Through live demonstrations, test drives, and insightful presentations from industry experts, attendees were able to experience the latest advancements in intelligent driving technology up close. These cutting-edge technologies not only showcased the innovative capabilities of new energy vehicles but also demonstrated China’s leading position in the intelligent driving field. Through these experiences, participants gained a deep understanding of how intelligent driving can enhance driving safety and convenience.

SAIC-GM-Wuling’s Channel Director, Tan Zuole, stated at the event that industry-education integration is a key path to promoting the development of intelligent driving technology. This model seamlessly connects vocational education with intelligent driving technology, extending the company’s future beyond the factory floor to practical training classrooms. He emphasized that SAIC-GM-Wuling will continue to strengthen its collaboration with vocational schools to jointly cultivate talent in the new energy vehicle field and promote the co-creation of technology and the establishment of standards between China and ASEAN countries.

2. Industry-Education Integration: Improving Professional Capabilities and Market Competitiveness

Students from Liuzhou City Vocational College gained valuable practical experience during the event. A student from the School of Mechanical, Electrical, and Automotive Engineering experienced a SAIC-GM-Wuling Baojun new energy vehicle during a test drive. He carefully observed and studied key features such as the vehicle’s charging function, seat comfort, and intelligent voice interaction. He stated that this industry-education integration model has greatly enhanced his professional skills and laid a solid foundation for future employment.

This industry-education integration model not only provides students with practical experience but also cultivates talent that meets market demand for businesses. With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle market, the demand for specialized talent is increasing. By collaborating with vocational colleges, businesses can better understand industry trends and promptly adjust their talent development programs to adapt to market changes.

Liu Hongbo, Vice President of Liuzhou City Vocational College, also shared the college’s educational philosophy and talent development system. He emphasized that the college consistently adheres to the principle of “serving the region and embracing ASEAN,” closely aligned with the development needs of the new energy vehicle industry, and has established a talent development model centered on “modern apprenticeships + field engineers.” Furthermore, the college is actively exploring a bilingual teaching system combining “Chinese and technical skills” to promote the internationalization of vocational education.

3. International Talent Cultivation and Market Opportunities

This event was not only a showcase of the achievements of intelligent connected technology, but also an important practice for the China-ASEAN New Energy Vehicle Industry Industry-Education Integration Community to deepen cooperation, strengthen technical collaboration, and promote the joint cultivation of international talent. Since its launch in July 2024, the community has achieved remarkable results, injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of China’s new energy vehicle industry.

At the event, Zhang Panpan, an international student from Laos, shared her study experience. As a student at Liuzhou City Vocational College’s School of Mechanical, Electrical, and Automotive Engineering, she gained extensive hands-on experience during her studies and visited the SAIC-GM-Wuling production base, gaining a deeper understanding of the vehicle manufacturing process. Zhang Panpan expressed her plan to return to Laos after graduation and apply her expertise to her country’s automotive sales and parts service industry, contributing to local economic development.

This international talent development model not only provides fresh blood for China’s new energy vehicle industry but also creates opportunities for the ASEAN automotive market. As China’s new energy vehicle technology continues to mature, more and more ASEAN countries are beginning to pay attention to and introduce Chinese new energy vehicles. Our company has a first-hand supply of Chinese new energy vehicles, enabling us to offer cost-effective options to the international market.

In short, China-ASEAN cooperation on new energy vehicles is not only about integrating technology and markets, but also about cultivating talent and the future. As the new energy vehicle market continues to expand, international consumers will have more high-quality travel options. We look forward to working with global partners to promote the popularization and development of new energy vehicles and contribute to a sustainable future.
