Introduction to new export model
Changsha BYD Auto Co., Ltd. successfully exported 60 new energy vehicles and lithium batteries to Brazil using the groundbreaking
“split-box transportation” model, marking a major breakthrough for China’s new energy vehicle industry. With the joint efforts of Changsha Customs and Zhengzhou Customs, this export marks the first time that Chinese new energy vehicles have adopted this innovative export method to enter the Brazilian market, marking a historic step for China’s new energy vehicle industry. The successful implementation of this model not only demonstrates China’s determination to enhance its export capabilities, but also reflects the growing global demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
Simplify export procedures
The relevant person in charge of Changsha BYD Auto Co., Ltd. emphasized that the new export model was formulated based on the specific requirements of the international market, especially India, Brazil and other regions. The reason why the body and lithium battery need to be exported separately is that power lithium batteries are dangerous goods. According to domestic regulations, such batteries must be certified by the customs of the place of origin before they can be exported. The lithium batteries used in this operation are produced by Zhengzhou Fudi Battery Co., Ltd. After the vehicle is assembled and tested in Changsha, the components will be disassembled and packaged separately before shipment.
Before the reform, individually packaged batteries needed to be shipped back to Zhengzhou for dangerous goods packaging and labeling, which not only prolonged the transportation time, but also increased costs and safety risks. The new joint supervision model realizes the joint supervision of the export process by the customs of the origin and the assembly site. This innovation enables the customs of the assembly site to directly carry out the necessary packaging and labeling of lithium batteries, effectively reducing the round-trip transportation links and significantly improving the efficiency of the export process.
Economic and environmental benefits
This reform has brought significant benefits to Changsha BYD Auto Co., Ltd., simplifying the export process and reducing costs. At present, each batch of exported new energy vehicles can save at least 7 days of transportation time and reduce the corresponding logistics costs accordingly. This not only reduces operating costs, but also effectively reduces the safety risks of dangerous goods transportation. The “unpacking and shipping” model has been piloted in the Changsha area of the Hunan Free Trade Pilot Zone and the Xiyong area of the Chongqing Free Trade Pilot Zone. After evaluation, this innovative model has been included in the General Administration of Customs’ “Sixteen Measures on Further Optimizing the Port Business Environment and Promoting Enterprise Customs Clearance Facilitation”, and is planned to be promoted nationwide by the end of 2024.
The positive impact of this export model is not limited to economic benefits. The promotion of new energy vehicles and related products helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality, thereby promoting environmental protection. In the context of countries around the world striving to achieve sustainable development, the export of clean energy products has made China a leader in the global green economy. This not only enhances China’s international image, but also demonstrates its determination to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices.
Promoting international cooperation and energy security
The successful export of new energy vehicles and lithium batteries has also promoted technological exchanges and cooperation between domestic enterprises and the international market. By participating in global trade, Chinese enterprises can enhance their own technological capabilities and innovation potential, and ultimately promote the progress of the entire industry. Such cooperation is essential for the development of cutting-edge technologies that can further promote the transition to sustainable energy solutions.
In addition, the development and export of clean energy products is essential to enhancing China’s energy security. By reducing its reliance on traditional fossil fuels and promoting the use of renewable energy, China is taking an important step toward optimizing its energy structure. This shift will not only meet domestic energy needs, but also enable China to play a responsible role in the global energy landscape.
Conclusion: A vision for sustainable development
In summary, Changsha BYD Auto Co., Ltd. successfully exported new energy vehicles to Brazil using the innovative “split-box shipping” model, which reflects the inevitable trend of sustainable development in China’s energy sector. This reform not only simplifies the export process and reduces costs, but also is more conducive to environmental protection, promotes international cooperation, and enhances energy security. China continues to lead the global green economy and will make important contributions to global sustainable development and climate change mitigation. The positive measures taken by Chinese companies and customs departments reflect the pursuit of innovation and responsibility, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
